Aren’t you a little short for a Stormtrooper? Star Words- Vol. 12

“Here goes nothing.” ~ Lando Calrissian

Luke Skywalker: “I’ll not leave you here. I’ve got to save you.”
Anakin Skywalker: “You already have, Luke.”

Welcome to this weekend’s Star Words! If ever a movie was chockfull of inspiration it’s the Star Wars series, the external and internal struggle against the dark side, love, fear, the Millennium Falcon (she made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs you know!).

We decided that occasionally throughout the year we’d do (not try) a slightly different than usual approach to Word’s, we hope you enjoy this first one! And remember as you’re reading this week’s volume:

“When you look at the dark side, careful you must be…
for the dark side looks back.” ~Yoda

This Isn’t the Petition Response You’re Looking For

The Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn’t on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

-The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We’re working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
-The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
-Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

~ Paul Shawcross (Official White House Response To: Secure resources and funding, and begin construction of a Death Star by 2016.)

“That blast came from the Death Star! That thing’s operational!”
~ Lando Calrissian

**********

“Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.”
~Darth Vader

**********

“The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”
~Obi-Wan Kenobi

**********

“Oh my goodness! Shut me down. Machines building machines. How perverse.”
~C-3PO

“It’s a trap!” ~ Admiral Ackbar

“I sense a trap.”~ Obi-Wan Kenobi

“Luke! Luke! Don’t! It’s a trap! It’s a trap!” ~Princess Leia

“I find your lack of faith disturbing.” ~Darth Vader

“You can’t win, Darth. Strike me down, and I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.” ~Obi -Wan Kenobi

Something’s happening. I’m not the Jedi I should be. I want more. And I know I shouldn’t.” ~ Anakin Skywalker

“Good is a point of view, Anakin.”~The Chanceler (Darth Sidious)

“You will find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view.” ~Obi-Wan Kenobi

“Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”~ Princess Leia

“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you.” ~Yoda

**********

“Then why do we fight at all, Master? Why bother trying to save anyone?”
~Anakin Skywalker

**********

“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction. So when Jesus says “Love your enemies,” he is setting forth a profound and ultimately inescapable admonition. Have we not come to such an impasse in the modern world that we must love our enemies– or else? The chain reaction of evil–hate begetting hate, wars producing wars–must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”

Martin Luther King Jr. (Strength to Love)

“Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.” ~Yoda

“Get him, Dad, get him. Fire!” ~Boba Fett

“I’m just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe.” ~Jango Fett

Darth Vader: “Do not suffer your father’s fate.”
Boba Fett: “My father was a greater warrior than you could have ever been.”
Darth Vader: “Yet my head is still attached to my body.”

“Train yourself to let go… of everything you fear to lose.”

“The fear of loss is a path to the dark side.”

“Ahh, hard to see, the Dark Side is.”

“Do or do not… there is no try.”

“Already know you that which you need.”

“When nine hundred years old you reach, look as good you will not.”

“Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall. That is the way of things.”

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force.”

“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed this Weekend’s Words. As you finish out your weekend and begin your week keep to the light, but keep in mind even a master Jedi such as Yoda occasionally has his off moments and forgets the way of the Force. Go easy on yourself.

    1. Happy as well your smile has made us! 🙂

I must have seen the original three Star Wars at least a hundred times, probably more. The first one, my parents took me to the drive-in to see when it came out, I remember thinking it was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen and wanted to be a Jedi so badly I started training immediately in the ways of the force (I was 5, I seriously thought I had a shot at Obi-Wan seeking me out 😉 )

May the force be with you through the weekend and always! ~Jennie

  3. Mostly, I’m impressed that you found quotes from Eps 1 – 3. But most of the Anakin ones I read in his whiney voice.

    1. I almost stuck with straight Vader quotes for just that reason! When I finally gave in to my daughter and watched Eps 1-3 I kept expecting Anakin to stomp his foot like a toddler at the end of every sentence. 😉 ~Jennie

    1. There’s so many great quotes, we could really have a few Star Wars volumes! I haven’t listened to Little Feat in so long, thank you for that! I forgot how much I used to enjoy listening to them 🙂 ~Jennie

Honestly I don’t know. Christy’s the widget master I am merely the student and have yet to learn that trick. I’ll let her know you asked and we’ll get back to you with a real answer! 😉 ~Jennie

  6. Loved this. You really wove a story-telling tapestry, I felt like I was getting a Star Wars life lesson. Brilliant.

I’m partial to the furry little Ewoks, I remember wanting one as a child because they were so cute. But I later loved them for their fierceness and love of music and nature. Soul tree… Love that concept.

    1. They took out fully trained and highly armed Stormtroopers with primitive weapons, they’re like ninja teddy bears 😉 I never understood why anyone disliked them, I loved them too!

It means a lot knowing you loved it 🙂 YubNub!

  8. This is awesome! I was never a Star Wars fan until I met my husband (who is a MAJOR Star Wars geek). I guess I always thought that the craze was something for guys. But I have found that I really enjoy the films. And Yoda…who doesn’t learn something from Yoda? He’s so wise. Love him and I love this post!
    Thanks for this.

    1. Hi Jami! We’re just the reverse here, my husband was never big on Star Wars. I’m not sure if he enjoys the movies or not now, but he sits through them when the kids and I decided we just have to watch them again 😉

Yoda, if the whole world would just learn from Yoda it would be a much pleasanter place to be 🙂 I’m glad you loved the post! May the force be with you to infinity and beyond (what Buzz Lightyear would say if he were a Jedi haha!)!~Jennie

  9. I love this! It was a Star Wars kind of Christmas for my 5 year old son and it was fun to share something with him that I loved as a kid. Reading these quotes makes me realize that Star Wars was my first teacher of spirituality! I’ve actually used the Force to explain God and spirituality to my kids. There’s lots of wisdom in there. 🙂

    1. I’ve used the force to explain the same to my kids, and just about anything relatable to the light or dark side of things! I agree with you wholeheartedly on the wisdom within it, it really is more than just a movie in that way. ~Jennie
